Business IT in Lisbon

Lisbon concentrates head offices, service offices, technology companies and a high density of SMEs with small teams and large demands. DataRoad ensures the functioning of the IT infrastructure of companies in the city and across Greater Lisbon — from setting up an office from scratch to a support contract that replaces or reinforces an internal department.

The most common problem in a company in Lisbon

It is not a lack of technology — it is an excess of decisions made at different times by different people. The switch was bought during a move, the router came from the ISP, the WiFi was added when another ten people joined and the server stayed where it was because nobody wanted to touch it. Each piece works; the whole thing is fragile and nobody can explain why.

Growth without a plan

Offices that doubled their team without ever reviewing the network. The symptoms appear as slowness, Wi-Fi drops and printing problems — rarely as what they actually are.

Email security

The overwhelming majority of incidents we see come in via email. Strong authentication and process verification are worth more than any additional equipment.

Hybrid working

Secure remote access, identity management, and reliable video conferencing have become basic infrastructure, not extras.

Nobody working in IT

In a twenty-person SME, IT is usually the job of whoever is most tech-savvy. It works until the day it stops working.

Start by understanding, not by proposing

Before recommending anything, we carry out an audit: what exists, how it is connected, what is out of warranty, where the backups are and when was the last time someone restored them.

In most cases, this document arrives to make a decision. Many companies discover there that the urgent investment is much smaller than they feared — and that the real problem lay elsewhere.

What we provide in the region

Service This includes
Assistance and support Remote and on-site support for workstations, incident management and IT Unlimited at a fixed cost.
Networks and cabling Certified structured cabling, Layer 3 switching and PoE power supply.
Wireless Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 with coverage analysis and centralised cloud-based management.
Cyber security Enterprise firewall, traffic segmentation and managed antivirus.
Servers and data Servers, NAS and backups with restoration trials.
Communications IP telephone systems and CCTV video surveillance with continuous recording.
The most reliable alarm signal. If nobody in the company can say, without consulting anyone, when a backup was last successfully restored, then in practice there is no backup. It is the first thing we check in any audit.

Survey, written diagnosis and phased execution. The order matters: most bad investments stem from proposals made before anyone has looked at the installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you only do projects or also ongoing support?

Both. There are clients who call us just for an installation and others who hand over the daily management to us on a regular basis IT Unlimited. We also carry out just the survey and diagnosis, with no obligation to carry out the work with us.

How long does it take to set up a new office?

Between three and six weeks for the technical part, with the work running concurrently. The critical timeframe is almost always the internet connection.

Do you work with small businesses?

Yes. A significant proportion of our customers have between five and thirty outlets.

Can you give a second opinion on a proposal we received?

We can, and we do so frequently. We analyse the proposal, identify what is oversized, what is missing and what is unclear — and we return that assessment in writing.

A chat before making a decision

Whether you’re tackling a specific problem, planning a move or simply looking for a second opinion, we always start in the same way: by understanding your situation before making any suggestions. No obligation, no jargon and no catalogues.
